FREE MEMBER TRAINING:  Inspired by real stories, Fairhaven is a new online fair housing simulation training for REALTORS® to help them work against the clock to sell homes while confronting discrimination in the homebuying process. The simulated working environment is centered in the fictional town of Fairhaven where learners can  walk in the shoes of homebuyers facing discrimination. The training provides customized feedback that learners can apply to daily business interactions.

Paragon 5.81 Release: Upcoming Enhancements

Performance Improvement

The following enhancements will be made to the Paragon 5 MLS the morning of February 24th, 2021.

1. Third Party Integrations, Action Icons and the Search Results Menu
  • A new Actions button has been added to the search results menu, providing users with a centralized location to access integrations from any spreadsheet or detail view! In addition to the new menu option, the Actions Icon column for the spreadsheet has been modified to display a single icon  to access all integrations, giving users more space for viewing data.
  • Note: The menu item that was previously called Actions will be renamed to More.
 
2. Listing Input – Partial Listings Auto-Save
  • Now you can add and maintain Photos, Open Houses, Tours, Documents and Videos while adding a listing without having to save it first. Selecting one of these additional actions will automatically save your data as a Partial listing. Previously, you had to save your listing first in order to access those additional options.
  • Note: Users must remember that their auto-saved listings are under Partial Listings.

2021 CCAR Board Inducted at Zoom Inaugural Celebration

Distinguished Service Awards go to Rob Baldwin, Jeffrey Wright, Dean Langston and Elizabeth Johnson

CCAR celebrated a very unconventional 100th annual inaugural ceremony last week in honor of incoming President Greg Souza and the 2021 Board of Directors. More than 250 members participated in the virtual Zoom event hosted by Mark Ibanez, Sports Director for KTVU Channel 2. Honorary Emeritus member and industry icon Clark Wallace officiated the induction ceremonies and featured speaker Chester Santos, The International Man of MemoryTM wowed guests with his memory tips and tricks. A group of Contra Costa County officials also contributed to the program with special messages to CCAR members and the incoming Board. 

Association awards were presented to four distinguished members who demonstrated outstanding service in 2020: Rob Baldwin (Century 21 MM) received the Realtor of the Year Award, Elizabeth Johnson (Johnson Law Firm) received the Affiliate of the Year Award, Jeffrey Wright (Managing Broker, Wright Realtors and Wricor Realty Advisors) received the Emeritus Member of the Year Award, and the President’s Community Service Award went to Dean Langston (Sales Manager/Loan Officer, Commerce Home Mortgage) for his exceptional service to Meals on Wheels, B. Walker Ranch and One Warm Coat. CCAR donated $4,500 to those charities on Dean’s behalf.

Code of Ethics Violators

In an effort to make ethics violations and the disciplinary process more transparent, C.A.R. is publishing the names of members who are found in violation of the Code of Ethics as well as summaries of the members’ unethical behavior. 

Member publication is triggered only if the discipline imposed is a reprimand, fine, suspension or expulsion – anything other than a letter of warning or stand-alone education. The information will be published on the members-only section of car.org. 

Past decisions of ethics hearing panels, including the decisions published on C.A.R.’s website, cannot be used as authority by complainants or respondents and cannot provide guidance for current or future hearing panels. Instead, REALTORS® should look to the Standards of Practice and the Case Interpretations for guidance in interpreting the Articles of the Code of Ethics. Standards of Practice and Case Interpretations can be cited by complainants in support of an alleged violation of an Article and by hearing panels in support of a decision that an Article has been violated.

C.A.R.’s website includes a summary of disciplinary action taken by local Associations of REALTORS®. Their publication is the result of a disciplinary hearing where the named member was found in violation of the Code of Ethics. Included in the publication are violations resulting in a Letter of Reprimand, Fine, Probation, Suspension of membership and Expulsion from membership. Not included in this report are violations resulting in solely a Letter of Warning or Education.

BIG NEWS! As part of C.A.R.’s 2021 consumer advertising campaign, they’ve partnered with ABC to be the presenting sponsor of their new documentary, California Dreaming!

As part of this partnership, C.A.R. President Dave Walsh introduces the documentary, and closes out the film. He is also featured within the program which explores the state of the state, pointing to the significant challenges associated with wildfires, extreme weather, earthquakes and the rising cost of living, whilst also covering all that is good about living and working in California.

Streaming now on Roku, FireTV, Apple TV, and Android TV, or airing on 2/6 and 2/13 on KABC-TV, Los Angeles, KGO-TV, San Francisco, and KFSN-TV, Fresno at 9 pm.
