False Reporting in the NY Times
The New York Times recently published an article rife with inaccuracies focusing on the American Property Owners Alliance (APOA). The reporter portrayed APOA in a fashion to falsely suggest that NAR is a partisan organization.
Facts vs. Fiction :: Here are the facts about APOA and NAR’s support for its mission:
- APOA is an independent, nonpartisan organization whose mission is to advocate for the interests of all American property owners.
- NAR provides an annual grant to APOA. APOA’s board and staff, however, operate independently from NAR.
- APOA does NOT contribute to political candidates or parties. Instead, its grants fund issue-based advocacy focused on policies that impact property owners.
APOA supports groups on both the right and left side of the aisle.
CALL TO ACTION: WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP
If there’s one thing you can do to counteract this false reporting, share this article on your social media networks to tell the real story about the important work APOA does on behalf of property owners.
The @OwnersAlliance bipartisan grantmaking supports issue-based advocacy focused on policies that impact property owners across the political spectrum—on the right AND the left.
