All REALTORS® are required by NAR to complete 2.5 hours of ethics training every three years, the current cycle: 2019 – 2021. See below for the many ways you can meet this requirement!

Training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by NAR. Those who complete the necessary 45-hour CE requirement for license renewal during the current cycle must email a copy of their ethics completion certificate to CCAR at [email protected]. We will update your status with NAR to show that you have fulfilled the requirement. Failure to complete the required training is a violation of membership duty for which CCAR, C.A.R., and NAR memberships are suspended and subsequently terminated.

Referral agents with CCAR (LFRO status) do not have to complete the requirement.

Please note: If you had your Continuing Education requirement waived by the California DRE due to the 70/30 Exemption, you must still complete the NAR ethics training requirement unless you have earned NAR Emeritus status.

Q:

A:

What happens if a REALTOR® doesn’t meet the training requirement on time?

Failure to meet the requirement is a violation of a membership duty and will result in suspension of membership for the first two months (January and February) of 2022 or until the requirement is met, whichever occurs sooner. On March 1, 2022, the membership of a member who is still suspended as of that date will be automatically terminated.

CA Attorney General Rob Bonta Creates New Housing Strike Force

by

bonta_strike_force

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the creation of a Housing Strike Force within the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the convening of a series of tenant roundtables across the state.

Attorney General Bonta today also launched a Housing Portal on DOJ’s website with resources and information for California homeowners and tenants.

Together, the Housing Strike Force, roundtables, and Housing Portal are part of DOJ’s new effort to advance housing access, affordability, and equity in California. DOJ’s Housing Strike Force will draw on the expertise of attorneys from the Land Use and Conservation Section, the Consumer Protection Section, the Civil Rights Enforcement Section, and the Environment Section’s Bureau of Environmental Justice to address the housing crisis and to alleviate its effects.

CA Housing Market Update & Forecast

by

As of October 30, 2021:
Most of the economic news is positive and California has made more progress down the road to economic recovery. Some positive trends continued to get better while some negative trends started to lose momentum.

There is even evidence that the housing market in California has begun to stabilize around what are expected to be the medium-term levels. However, interest rates have risen significantly from the first half of the year and the coronavirus, although avoiding a significant ramp thus far, is likely transitioning from pandemic to a lasting endemic with numbers that remain persistently high as we enter a new normal.

Looking into the Future…
C.A.R. Releases its 2022 CA Housing Market Forecast

The baseline scenario of C.A.R.’s “2022 California Housing Market Forecast” sees a decline in existing single-family home sales of 5.2 percent next year to reach 416,800 units, down from the projected 2021 sales figure of 439,800. The 2021 figure is 6.8 percent higher compared with the pace of 411,900 homes sold in 2020. California housing market to remain solid if pandemic is kept under control, but structural challenges will persist:

  • Existing, single-family home sales are forecast to total 416,800 units in 2022, a decline of 5.2 percent from 2021’s projected pace of 439,800.
  • California’s median home price is forecast to rise 5.2 percent to $834,400 in 2022, following a projected 20.3 percent increase to $793,100 in 2021.
  • Housing affordability is expected to drop to 23 percent next year from a projected 26 percent in 2021.

CCAR Receives $50K HAF Grant to Benefit First-Time Black Home Buyers

by

Happy African American Father and Son in Front of Home and Sold For Sale Real Estate Sign.

CCAR recently received a C.A.R. HAF (Housing Affordability Fund) grant for $50,000 that has been donated to the Richmond Community Foundation’s Black Wealth Builder Fund.

The Richmond Community Foundation’s Black Wealth Builder Fund, a local charitable foundation dedicated to building wealth and preserving economic equity in Black communities throughout Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. With these funds the Foundation will provide three no-interest loans of up to $15,000 for closing costs, down payment assistance, and other financial needs to ensure the close of escrow on a buyer’s first home; zero-interest loans are due at the time of sale or refinancing.

“In our community, homeownership rates for White households is almost double that of Black households. Black households are the only racial/ethnic group that experience consistent declines in homeownership,” said Jim Becker, President and CEO of the Richmond Community Foundation.

“Through the Black Wealth Builder Fund, we will be able to remove key financial barriers for Black households.”

To date, the Foundation has raised more than $140,000 that will benefit 19 new Black homeowners.

For more information about how to apply for funds, qualified first-time homebuyers should contact Niki Beasley or Cymone Goree at Neighborhood Housing Services of the East Bay: 510. 237.6459, and let them know they are interested in the First Time Home Buyer program.
