Rent Stabilization and Just Cause for Eviction
Ordinance – Final Vote
Next Tue., Mar. 5 at 6:30pm, the Concord City Council is scheduled to take a final vote on the draft Rent Stabilization and Just Cause for Eviction Ordinances.
The City Council voted 4-1 to introduce the draft ordinances on Tue., Feb. 13, 2024, which include a rent cap of 3% or 60% of CPI (whichever is lower), rent rollback to Apr. 4, 2023, and relocation assistance for all rentals (including single-family homes). The CCAR Scholarship Foundation provides scholarship awards of up to $10,000 to qualified students residing in Contra Costa County. Their commitment to support higher education is the heart of the Foundation’s desire to make a difference!
Candidates may be either high school seniors, trade school, undergraduate or graduate students. All applicants must strictly comply with the application process and fully meet the Foundation’s requirements.

Legal Quick Guide: Are Agents Independent Contractors or Employees? New Regulations: Effective March 11, 2024
Under California law, as clarified in 2020 in Assembly Bill 5, a real estate licensee is an independent contractor if:
– The individual has a real estate license
– Compensation is based on output rather than hours worked
– A written contract between the individual licensee and broker provides the individual will
not be treated as an employee for real estate services rendered.
